Sunbreak Aviation, in partnership with Sasquatch Aviation, offers training in a full-motion Redbird FMX. This enclosed simulator has six-screens, a full set of flight controls, and accurate instrumentation.
The Redbird FMX is perfect for pilots seeking an Instrument Rating, thanks to its two VOR receivers and radio stack. Also on hand are a Garmin GPS and an autopilot.
As an FAA-approved Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD), pilots can log up to 20 hours of dual instruction in pursuit of the instrument rating, which lowers overall training costs.
Pilots can adjust the Redbird FMX's level of realism. The three-axis motion can be enabled or disabled, while the audio level can be silent or loud enough to require headsets. A "pause" button allows the pilot or instructor to freeze any training scenario.
Pilots who already have an Instrument Rating can use the Redbird FMX to log approaches in order to maintain IFR currency. The Redbird also can be used to complete an Instrument Proficiency Check (IPC) for pilots who are no longer current.
Pilots looking to gain experience in glass cockpits can select the Redbird's Garmin G1000 option. The G1000 panel also can be used by any pilot who is training in a similar aircraft for an instrument rating.
The Redbird FMX rents for just $78 per hour. Instructor fees apply when flying dual. Pilots also can be approved for solo flight.
